Fenty Skin was, without a doubt, one of the most-anticipated skin care lines of the year. 2020 hasn’t had many big events, but Rihanna’s new Fenty product is one of them. 

Everywhere she’s worked, she’s done more to make people feel welcome. At the end of last month, you sent me the Total Cleanser, the Fat Water Pore-Refining Toner Serum, and the Hydra Vizor Invisible Moisturizer + SPF. I’ve had time to do some research and write my review.

What Fenty Face product is “best” depends on what you like and how much you care about your face. Since every skincare product is made to help with a different area, the best one for you depends on your skin type, worries, and tastes. Here is a quick list of some well-known Fenty Skin styles:

When Rihanna started Fenty Beauty in 2017, the brand only wanted to complete more tasks. With more than 40 foundation shades, the brand’s images and social media were more open and inviting. Also, there were more new coloured items and boxes. When Fenty Skin’s new skincare line comes out on July 31, it won’t have 40 things. 

Only three will be on it instead. This is her way of showing that you can take better care of your face with less.

We agree that anyone can use and love Fenty Skin products after using them for over a month. It doesn’t matter what gender or personality you are.

 But people whose skin is sensitive or prone to acne should be a little more careful when they use the items.

I want to make it clear that EVERYONE HAS DIFFERENT SKIN BEFORE I START. There are not many people who love the line. I’m telling the truth, but those going crazy over it lie. That doesn’t mean people who love it are telling the truth and people who hate it are lying. That’s it: everyone has different skin needs, thoughts, and experiences.

Even though Rihanna says it’s less than 1%, all things have synthetic scents. Anyhow, they all have pretty strong smells. I’ll say more about that in my reviews of each one. They all have colours that are made in a lab as well.

Another thing I like is that the wrapping can be recycled, and they didn’t use extra shrink wrap or outer packaging, which means less trash. The sunscreen did come in a box, but all the information and lists of chemicals are right on the bottles.

Rihanna designed the line to be good for people with sensitive skin. How sensitive your skin is will determine if it is or not. Some people will love this skincare line, and people will not.

The first clever thing about Fenty Skin is how it comes in a box. 

You can quickly do your skincare routine with the twist-open and twist-close cap. The items also use less plastic because of the simplified packaging. Even though Fenty Skin isn’t green, it is made with the earth in mind. PCR was used to make the bottles, which can be reused or recovered.

Total Cleanser Get Rid of Everything Cleanser

To our surprise, the cleaner has become our favourite of the three. You only need a small amount of this thick gel cream to remove all traces of sunscreen and makeup. Even though the sweet smell is natural, it can be too much. Keep that in mind if you don’t like fruity skincare or have sensitive skin: all three products have the same amount of scent.

Toner Serum for Reducing Fat and Water Pores

Fat Water is the most interesting and new piece in the line. As the name suggests, it’s a liquid and cleaner that’s as thick as jelly. It won’t fall apart when applied to your face because of its special texture. 

This way, nothing will go to waste. “Fat Water does it all—it evens out skin tone, fights shine, and hides dark spots and pores without stripping it,” she says in the press release.

 “Everyone can enjoy it.” I can’t get enough of it.”

The Fenty Skin Total Cleanser gets rid of everything.

Texture: It starts as a cream and foams up when water is added.

The scents in this line don’t smell good to me 🙀 This smells sweet, vanilla-y, and fruity.

Packaging: The product comes in a plastic tube with a cap that lets you pour it out. It’s simple to use, and I won’t hurt it if I drop it.

What I think:

I was underwhelmed by it overall. I measured the pH twice, and it was about 7/7.5 both times. I can’t say whether this is normal because I haven’t seen anyone else test this pH. I will edit this post once I have finished. If you don’t know why a low-pH cleanser is important, here’s a quick summary:

 You want a cleaner with the same pH level as your skin so that your skin’s microbiome and moisture layer don’t get damaged, which would make your skin red. After washing, the cleaner may worsen your skin if it feels tight, dry, flaky, or sensitive. pH is just one part of a cleaner, of course.

It has good ingredients—there aren’t any harsh detergents. It also has different fruit extracts that help keep the face moist!

This is sold in shops as a second wash that foams up and a first cleanser for removing makeup. There aren’t many cleaners who are good at both of those things. I won’t say anything bad about what Fenty says because most new cleanses say the same thing.

Unsurprisingly, this doesn’t work very well for removing makeup for me.

 It will take off some light powders, but it doesn’t work as well on heavy liquids like foundation and concealer. I like to use foundation, powder, and setting spray all at once because it’s so hot and humid outside. That way, my face doesn’t melt off when I leave the house. 

Since I’m using more protective makeup, I need a good makeup remover based on oil. That’s not it.

As a second cleaner, it works fine. Some foam forms, and it’s easy to rinse off. At first, it feels a little slippery, but a few water splashes take care of that. The Foreo also works well with it! It foams up 👌My eyes are very sensitive and don’t like foaming cleaners, so I don’t put it on them.

My skin is a little dry when I use this. It’s not the worst thing ever, but I love other face washes more than this one, so I won’t be using it up. It will probably be given to a friend or used to clean makeup brushes or the body.

A Skin Toning Serum by Fenty for Pores and Fatty

Texture: Dense, juicy, and thick.For example, a thick toner like Glow Recipe’s PHA + BHA Pore Tight Toner.

Smell: Another sweet, fruity-smelling scent.

Packaging That is clear and has a cap that twists open. The thing is pushed out.

Thoughts: Upon receiving the line, this was the item that I was most eager to test. A rich cleanser that I can use alone or on top of my serum? Please say yes! Niacinamide (which also brightens and soothes), green tea extract (which is high in vitamins), cactus flower extract, cherry extract, and many more are all on the list of ingredients.

The second element, witch hazel, is not good. Not everyone can handle witch hazel the same way. Some people love it, while others can’t stand it at all. Right where it should be. So long as it’s not overpowering, I’m fine with it. 

The Fenty toner, on the other hand, has more witch hazel than I can handle. When I put this on my skin, it tingles; when it’s dry, it feels dry instead of moisturised.

Imagine if this sensation didn’t prick my flesh. Too much of it would still be undesirable. Due to the presence of witch hazel, I advise against using many toner coats as is my regular practice (as seen in the seven-skin method). 

Since my skin becomes more sensitive after using drying alcohols, witch hazel, menthol, acids, etc., regularly, I avoid toners with many of these chemicals. I like that they didn’t use regular witch hazel but witch hazel distillate. This way, the recipe doesn’t have any denatured alcohol in it.

The general list of ingredients is nice, and I love the thick texture, so I would enjoy this a lot more If only it didn’t have so much witch hazel.

There is a broad-spectrum SPF sunscreen called Fenty Skin Hydra Vizor that you can’t see.

Texture: Light Lotion.

Fragrance: All of them smell strong, but this one does the best. After I put this on my face, it smells good.

Packaging: The reusable wrapping is smart! When you’re done, you can remove the inner cylinder and put a new airless pump in its place.

Thoughts: Without a question, this is my favourite from the first run! I love that each bottle can be used more than once, and I love that Rihanna tells her fans to put on Sunscreen!

My skin gets dry in the summer, so that’s how it is. 

This lotion works for me without being too heavy or oily. I put this on top of lotion to see how it worked, and it worked great. Again, it felt like it hydrated my face without being too heavy. It also didn’t pill when I used it with my face care or makeup.

It looks pink when it’s first spilled, but that colour disappears quickly. It won’t make any skin tone look white because it’s only chemicals (avobenzone, homosalate, and octisalate). I wouldn’t expect anything less from Fenty because the brand is about being open to everyone. I can rub it in easily, and my skin absorbs it fast.

Like the toner serum, it has niacinamide as an ingredient. It also has juicy hyaluronic acid, watermelon, aloe, and other fruit products. It made me happy to see that the recipe doesn’t contain silicone. Silicones aren’t bad in and of themselves, but they can make layering harder. It also has orange essential oils, along with the synthetic fragrance and dye we already discussed.

Fat Water is made from witch hazel, niacinamide, antioxidants, vitamin C, and other plant-based ingredients that work together to make skin look brighter and smoother. Witch hazel is an astringent, so it won’t make your skin look fuller or more hydrated. You will need to follow it up with a lotion.

An invisible moisturiser with broad spectrum SPF 30 from Hydra Vizor

Invisible cream from Hydra Vizor Soap with Broad Spectrum SPF 30 can be used. It’s a light sunscreen and moisturiser that you can use repeatedly.

 The sweet smell stays after you wash your face. According to the press release, she wanted to make an SPF lotion that wouldn’t show up at all, so there would be no chalky residue or flashback. “We made this shade of pink that looks good on all skin tones and blends in easily. It gives skin a healthy glow.”

Oxybenzone and octinoxate are two UV filters banned because they cause coral bleaching in the water. However, the formula does have two other chemical filters that make the SPF invisible. It is important to note that chemical sunscreens can be annoying to some people, especially those with sensitive or reactive skin. 

This moisturiser will surely be a hit during the day, but for the evening, you should still use a different lotion that doesn’t have SPF. Fenty Skin is likely already working on something.

“This is the truth about skin care. It does or does not work. In early 2018, Rihanna told British Vogue, “There’s nowhere to hide.” Aside from that, the article also says that Rihanna wants Fenty Skin to be just as perfect and high-quality as Fenty Beauty.

Rihanna has been working on Fenty Skin since March of last year when she applied for a title with the USPTO. 

The Fenty Skin trademark includes “medicated and non-medicated skincare, soap, body care and personal care products (excluding colour cosmetics, perfume and other fragrance-only products), and related accessories such as kits, tools and applicators.”

Rihanna acknowledged in the same interview with British Vogue that she has a total say over all aspects of Fenty Beauty, including the names of the shades and the material used for marketing. “Oh yeah! I write all of the copy for the websites, the product descriptions, product names, the colour names…” she said. “I do have a huge team, but I just don’t necessarily think their tone is mine. I’d feel like a fraud selling something I can’t stand by.”
